Its president, Liza Alip, said the members were assisted by the public who were at the recreation park when the programme started at 8am."Some young joggers saw what we were doing and voluntarily came over to help. "About 30 people were involved in the tree planting activity," Liza said, adding that the event was held in collaboration with the Johor Baru City Council.
It was part of the United Nations environment programme called "The Plant for the Planet: Billion Tree Campaign"."It was also held in conjunction with Mother's Day, as we wanted to honour Mother Nature," Liza said. She said the participants gathered for a 30-minute "laughter exercise" after planting the trees to relieve tense and aching muscles."The activity was tiring but enjoyable. It is also meaningful as the next generation will get to see the fruit of our labour," she said."We want Johor Baru to be a greener city," she added.
